Sustainability starts with transparency, and we believe that responsible manufacturing and open disclosure are the foundation of a healthier future—for people and the planet.
We embrace our responsibility to the environment and actively contribute to climate protection. This commitment is evident in our manufacturing processes and our dedication to continuous improvement. We consistently reflect on our sustainability development through internal and external assessments, including published Life Cycle Assessments and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
PURLINE is manufactured without chemicals that can compromise indoor air quality and human health. Instead, it’s made with renewable plant-based oils—such as castor oil—and natural mineral fillers like chalk. It is bio-based polyurethane that delivers exceptional performance without compromising wellness.
Our ecuran bio-polyurethane material is produced without the use of halogenated organic compounds, chlorine, plasticizers, or solvents, and without the need for water. It uses plant-based oils such castor oil and natural mineral components like chalk. We prioritize the use of renewable and natural raw materials, with 50% to 75% of the polyurethane in ecuran consisting of plant-based oils and 50% to 80% of the product utilizing natural fillers like chalk and sand. We use over 7,000 tons of castor oil annually.
We are deeply committed to utilizing renewable energy sources. Our state-of-the-art solar energy systems generate approximately 950,000 kWh of electricity annually, supplying our production facilities and feeding unused energy back into the public grid. We also utilize climate-neutral heating fueled by renewable waste wood.
We save 6,500 tons of CO2 per year compared to conventional energy generation through our energy center and solar power. In 2023, our Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions were 1,020 tons of CO2 equivalent, down from 12,050 tons, which represents an 82% reduction compared to the 2019 fictional baseline.
We never utilize carbon offsets to claim climate neutrality – we reduce emissions through meaningful innovation.
We are actively expanding our e-mobility initiatives. Our forklift fleet was fully converted to 100% electrically powered forklifts in 2021. We are also preparing a revision of our car policy to include increased electrification of our company vehicle fleet.
We focus on minimizing waste and optimizing our waste mix. Over 95% of the waste we produce falls into non-critical categories like paper, wood, plastic, and municipal waste, which are either recycled or incinerated for energy generation, with no waste going to landfill. We also utilize residual materials from production in a waste incineration plant to generate electricity and heat.
We work to ensure transparency and minimize risks within our supply chain. We require our suppliers to accept our Code of Conduct, which outlines our expectations for resource efficiency and compliance standards. We are a member of the Sustainable Castor Association, working to improve local structures in India where our castor oil is sourced, addressing issues such as child labor, occupational health and safety, and sustainable agriculture through training and certification systems.
We publish third-party verified documentation to back up our claims. These disclosures help you make informed comparisons and meet your project goals for sustainability, wellness, and performance.
